On Monday evening, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), with the aid of external actors, launched a barbaric and indiscriminate airstrike campaign on Nyala, the capital of South Darfur. Warplanes unleashed a relentless barrage of bombs, ruthlessly targeting civilian areas, critical infrastructure, and vital healthcare facilities. The scale of this assault has left the city in ruins, claiming the lives of hundreds of innocent civilians — especially the most vulnerable: women, children, and the elderly.
Nyala now lies in the ashes of its own destruction, as entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble. Amid the chaos, rescue teams continue to search tirelessly through the wreckage, retrieving the lifeless bodies of victims who were caught in the devastating blasts. Many perished in their homes, their lives brutally and senselessly cut short in an act of unspeakable cruelty.
In a coldly calculated and profoundly sinister act of terror, the Port Sudan militia — comprising the co-opted leadership of the SAF and their allies from the former regime, all operating under the influence of the terrorist Islamic Movement — launched four brutal air raids. In these attacks, they employed explosives and barrel bombs in a manner that flagrantly disregards basic human decency and violates international law. These were not just military operations — they were deliberate and systematic attempts to instill fear and suffering in the hearts of an innocent civilian population. These attacks were aimed squarely at those who could not defend themselves, with no regard for human life or the most basic principles of justice.
This indiscriminate assault on unarmed civilians represents a flagrant violation of human rights and international law — an atrocity that will be indelibly etched in the memories of the Sudanese people. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) stands united in its resolve. The perpetrators of these heinous crimes will be held accountable for their actions. Our response will be swift, resolute, and unyielding. We will not rest until those responsible for this unspeakable violence are brought to justice, and we will ensure that such acts of barbarity are never again inflicted upon the people of Sudan.
